Hi, I’m Angelica Alcazar, an alumna of California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), where I earned my degree in Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I have long been fascinated by how biological systems function at a molecular level and enjoy exploring the science behind everyday life.
I grew up in Martinez, California, surrounded by family members working in STEM fields, which sparked my curiosity and appreciation for problem-solving and scientific discovery. Throughout my undergraduate experience, I discovered that I especially enjoyed laboratory environments, where patience, precision, and attention to detail are essential. At the same time, my involvement in mentorship, collaboration, and outreach helped me develop strong communication and interpersonal skills.
My interest in biology began in high school, inspired by a teacher who made science engaging by connecting lessons to real-world experiences. That hands-on approach shaped my learning style and motivated me to pursue a professional career that blends hands-on laboratory work with people-focused roles, allowing me to support research while also collaborating closely with diverse teams.
Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time with friends and exploring new restaurants. As I am still recovering from back surgery my life is slowly getting back to normal and doing things I really love like hiking, playing pickleball, and bowling with family & friends.
