About Me

Hi, I’m Angelica Alcazar, a fourth-year student at Cal State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), majoring in Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I’ve always been passionate about science and understanding how the human body works, which led me to pursue a career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). I’m drawn to the behind-the-scenes work of analyzing samples and providing essential information that helps doctors make accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
I grew up in Martinez, California, surrounded by family members who work in STEM; including health care, and computer science. Seeing their impact inspired me to find my own way of contributing to healthcare, and I realized that working in a behind the scenes lab was the perfect fit for me. As I like focusing on work and not being in the spotlight, I find fulfillment in contributing to discoveries and solutions without needing public recognition.
My interest in biology really took off in high school thanks to an amazing teacher who made science feel exciting and relatable by not using textbooks, but our own bodies to learn. That experience helped me see how powerful science is in solving real-world problems, and it motivated me to dive deeper into molecular biology and chemistry. If you’d like to connect or share similar interests, I’d love to hear from you!
