About Me

Hi, I’m Angelica Alcazar, a fourth-year student at Cal State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), majoring in Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I’ve always been fascinated by how the human body works on a molecular level and love exploring the science behind everyday life.
I grew up in Martinez, California, surrounded by family members who work in STEM fields, which sparked my curiosity and appreciation for problem-solving and discovery. I enjoy spending time in the lab, where patience and precision come together to reveal how things work at their core.
My interest in biology started in high school, thanks to a teacher who made science engaging by using our own experiences and bodies to learn rather than relying on textbooks. That hands-on approach showed me how science connects deeply to the real world and inspired my continued curiosity and love for learning.
Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time with friends and trying new restaurants together. I’m currently focusing on my recovery from back surgery, which includes physical therapy and daily walks. Before my surgery, I loved going on hikes, playing pickleball, and bowling with my family and hope to get back to it soon!
